Sharpson is a London based producer, DJ and label boss of 'Choki Biki Records'. Hailing from Ireland, Sharpson has over 16 years experience when it comes to DJing and producing. In fact, he is so comfortable on the decks, he even DJ’s with the decks backwards! The multi-genre producer has a number of aliases and projects, but is most known for his work at the fore-front of the Irish Breakbeat scene back home in Dublin, having even been referred to as the ‘Irish Drum & Bass Don’ by Dave Jennings (One more Thing / UKF). In 2018, Dónal Sharpson started to produce and DJ under his own name after starting off his career as an Liquid DnB act known as Double Screen. With influences from 90's UK club culture, the ‘Sharpson’ project concentrates on the club and supplying dance-floor fillers. Sharpson’s on-stage presence has been compared to as a 'Mad Lad' with his sets being a mixture of Techno, UKG, Breakbeat, Jungle and Drum and Bass. Expect him to mix with the decks upside-down, stage-dive and MC with a microphone. A Sharpson set is guaranteed to get people on their feet. His infamous satirical raves at 'Granny's Gaff' at Electric Picnic, have become a 'must-see' on every festival goers list. Recreating classic house parties in North Dublin, the Glasnevin born DJ spins all of classic Trance and Hard Style tracks which plagued the early 00’s Dublin rave scene. During the Covid-19 lockdown, Sharpson came 15th place in the Dirtybird Couchout DJ Competition, out of over 1000 DJs and featured as one of Snowbombing's 2022 upcoming artists, having performed 3 nights throughout the festival. As a touring DJ, Sharpson has performed all across Ireland, the UK, Europe and North America headlining shows in London, Manchester, Ottawa, Berlin and his hometown of Dublin. With a passion for Drum & Bass, Sharposn has supported some of the biggest names in DNB including Bou, General Levy, Fred V, Etherwood, Dom Whiting and more. In terms of releases, the multi-genre producer and DJ has seen releases on the likes of Dirtybird, Solamente, Snatch! and more recently Southpoint and Hot Cake’s Breakbeat sister label Hardcore Energy. Notably, his tracks find support from luminaries like Skream, KiNK, Nastia, Four Tet, Deborah De Luca, Ed Solo, Riva Starr, Spartaque and have found a home on platforms such as BBC Radio1, Rinse FM, Boiler Room, HÖR, Ministry of Sound and more. For more melodic electronic sounds, be sure to check out his live project Double Screen for Deep House, Liquid Drum & Bass and Future Garage.
