DJ Vibe, began his career at age 15 and has since become the most influential figure on the Portuguese DJ scene. Since the 1980s, he’s been instrumental in launching major clubs in Portugal and abroad. His journey started in his father’s record store in Lisbon, where he discovered the world of music and landed his first gig at Bataclan. Shortly after, he was invited to open “Plateau,” marking a turning point for Lisbon’s nightlife. In 1988, DJ Vibe played a key role in the opening of the legendary “Alcântara Mar” club and began a nearly seven-year residency at BEATPORT “Kremlin,” first Portuguese club to host after-hours parties. Present at the opening and for 10 years, he became a resident at "Lux Frágil", where his monthly nights drew crowds from across the country. Immersed in London’s Acid House explosion, Vibe was one of the first to introduce groundbreaking sounds from artists like Phuture and Adonis to Portugal, cementing his role as a musical pioneer. In the 1990s, DJ Vibe and Rui da Silva formed “Underground Sound of Lisbon” (USL), hitting #1 on the Billboard Chart with their track “So Get Up,” which sold over 40,000 singles and a million compilation copies through Tribal America Records. Their music attracted remixes by top DJs like Danny Tenaglia and Junior Vasquez. Vibe, Tenaglia, and Da Silva later collaborated on the NYLX project, releasing “Goosebumps” in 1996. During this time, Vibe also co-founded Portugal’s first dance music label, KAOS RECORD, with António Cunha and Rui da Silva. In March 1998, USL's single “Are you looking 4 me (in the backroom)”, featuring Celeda, reached number 35 on the Billboard Chart and won a place among the 75 singles of the year chosen by British Muzik Magazine in 2000. USL's single “The lights” was considered one of the 10 best songs of Miami by British DJ Mag and British DJ Mixmag chose it as the single of the April issue. In 1998, Tó Pereira was invited by Twisted America Records to mix the second volume of the “Mix this Pussy” compilation series, and two years later history repeated itself, this time with an invitation from the English distributor Intergroove, who challenged him to make a compilation, “International Grooves”, aimed at record markets such as the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany. In 2001, “Global Groove” vol.1, based on more than 20,000 copies sold, reached the gold record. And a year later, the second volume of the compilation arrived and, based on more than 20,000 copies sold, it reached gold level. In 2004, Yoko Ono took 1st place on the Billboard Hot Dance Music Club Play Chart with her remix of “Everyman...Everywoman”. After 4 consecutive years in the DJ Mag Top100 Chart, DJ Vibe reached 40th place in the 2007 to 2011 edition. He has played or been a resident DJ at some of the world's most famous clubs, including Stereo in Montreal. His hard work has earned him worldwide recognition, as he has played at clubs such as: Refuge NYC, DC-10 Ibiza, Space Ibiza, Sound Factory NYC, Space Club Miami, Spundae LA, Ministry of sound London, Vinyl NYC, Pacha NYC, Release San Francisco, Womb Japan, Zouk Singapore, EchoesRimini, Vagalume Tulum.... Il a joué avec des DJ internationaux tels que Carl Cox, Laurent Garnier, Dj Harvey, Danny Tenaglia, Dubfire, Behrouz, Vitor Calderone, Chus&Ceballos, Agoria... It has also been played abroad on the radio station Kiss 102/100 in England on the John Digweed show. International festivals/events: Sonar Barcelona, BPM, Winter Music Conference, El Row, Brunch Electronik (Barcelona and Lisbon), MOGA festival, Global Gathering, Creamfields Buenos Aires, Dance Valley, Rock in Rio (Rio de Janeiro, Las Vegas, Madrid, Lisbon), Love Parade in Berlin, MTV Europe Music Awards,... On November 4, 2017, Dj Vibe organized one of the biggest parties in the country to celebrate his 35-year career and his 50th birthday. More than 2,500 people attended and discovered a retrospective of his musical career. In 2020, Dj Vibe created his alter ego “ANTOS”. A new approach with a new universe, a new rhythm of Indie, Deep Dance, Psychedelic style. This new project began with a first EP “Salve” on Do Not Sit On the Furniture (Dj Behrouz Label). In 2024, he took on a new challenge, that of making his debut in his own name with a record of originals. The result is “Frequências”, DJ Vibe's first album under his own name. And this year, 2026, he embraces a new musical challenge, moving away from club-oriented sounds. Alongside artist Paulo Gonçalves (Heróis do Mar), the project titled “Mão” unfolds through eight sonic journeys that trace a route across the world, drawing inspiration from the music of each territory from America to Asia. Rooted in electronic music, the album explores a broad spectrum of styles, with its narrative built through a meticulous fusion of instrumentation and electronics. Born from the creative restlessness of both artists, the album also embodies their search for new paths.
