HYPNOTIZE has been standing for underground battle rap from East Germany for years. What started early on as uncompromising boom bap quickly developed into a sound of its own: dirty, raw, punchline-heavy — yet personal and reflective at the same time.

Hypnotize stands for rap with no filter. For lyrics that hit hard, but also look inward. Lines that stay with you because they carry attitude: “Your rap sounds very educated — maybe you should become a teacher or deputy police chief instead.” Or autobiographical and brutally honest: “I’ve been doing this shit since I was 14, they told my mom her son was a disturbed kid. She said, don’t listen to them, because if you always believe what people tell you, you’ll end up blind.”

With his last album, “Räubervisagen,” Hypnotize sharpened this approach even further and proved it live on stage. Last year alone, he played twelve shows across Germany, solidifying his reputation as an uncompromising live MC from Magdeburg.
