Lone

Born Matt Cutler and raised in Nottingham, Lone has emerged as a standout artist over the last decade. Starting out making hip hop, he has distinctly evolved with each new release. Yet whether making house, techno, breakbeats or jungle, his music always remains identifiable thanks to its blurry sense of rave nostalgia and bright melodic colours. As well as running his own Magicwire label—home to early albums like Emerald Fantasy Tracks and music from Ross From Friends and Project Pablo—he has also released on Werk Discs and Dekmantel. Over the course of three full lengths since 2012, though, he has become an essential artist in the modern R&S family. Since the last album (Levitate, 2016) Lone has released six dancefloor/club/afterclub focused EPs and a DJ-Kicks mix/album that included five of his own tracks alongside music from Radiohead, Drexciya and Boards of Canada.

dBridge

Dr Banana

Dr.B’s roots are in UKG, growing a globally-recognised label slinging out toasty cuts from new producers and re-issues from the golden era, but this is just a slither of the London-born DJ’s eclectic collection. You only need to flick through his recent bumper to bumpers to see how far and wide he can go. Whether it’s meaty chunks of electro, techno, and minimal with Evan Baggs, cross-genre party starters alongside Bradley Zero, straight shellers with Interplanetary Criminal, or just throwing it down alone, he’ll bring a bag of belters whatever the weather, wherever the crowd. After establishing himself as one of the UK’s most in-demand selectors, the London-born DJ has taken operations worldwide. From the floating intimacy of Berlin’s Hoppetosse to the sheer scale of Glastonbury, Fabric’s brutal brickwork to the iconic caverns of Kiev’s Art Club Closer and Mkvtvarse in Georgia – local, national, and global venues are the workshops for Dr. B’s versatile trotters. If he’s not getting his stirling’s worth out of a treasured travel pillow, playing venues and festivals across the UK and beyond, you’ll find him shooting three-pointers, digging into next week, or kickin’ it in front of the box with a moderately-priced pho.

Faro grew up on her Dad’s collection of R&B and Soul, which heavily influences her selections today ranging from House, Broken Beat, Disco, Jazz, Garage and beyond - especially inspired by the sounds of Chicago and Detroit. Giles Smith

Giles’ love affair with all things House and Techno was sparked at the beginning of the 90’s after hearing it on the radio. Before long the voodoo lure of the dancefloor and club life was too much to resist and he fell head long into his obsession. Despite collecting records from the age of 15, it wasn’t until moving to London in 2000 after completing his degree that Giles began DJing. Within a very short space of time he made his mark, earning a coveted residency for the Junior Boys Own affiliated Faith parties. Here he played alongside UK stalwarts such as X-Press 2 and Terry Farley and international guests such as Doc Martin, Kerri Chandler and Dubtribe. Soon after, inspired by hedonistic cutting edge clubs both in the UK and Ibiza, Giles and a group of friends launched secretsundaze in 2001. In a short period of time, secretsundaze became the hottest ticket in town for both guest DJ’s / Live Act’s (Ricardo Villalobos, Carl Craig, Steve Bug, Luciano, Ame, Losoul, Ivan Smagghe, Jay Haze, Rhadoo, Cobblestone Jazz, Mountain People, Keith Worthy and Jus Ed to name a few); and party people from all over Europe. These colourful summer Sunday daytime parties have also made secretsundaze the darling of the UK media with it being voted “Best Club Night” by readers of Time Out in London in “The Time Out Live Awards 2005” and awarded the accolade “Club of The Year” in the January 2006 edition of Mixmag. secretsundaze also became known for taking risks with bookings, breaking new, fresh talent in the UK, something which Giles was largely responsible for. The buzz about secretsundaze has also spread across Europe with hugely successful parties taking place in Ibiza (2005 / 2006), Sonar Festival In Barcelona (2005 / 2006/ 2007/2008/2009). Miami (2009) and Snowbombing in Austria. During this period, Giles’ reputation has soared with him being named “Best New DJ” in 2003 by Time Out magazine. He has played many of the UK’s most respected parties / venues from smaller more underground venues such as The Key, Plastic People, 93 Feet East to larger venues such as Fabric (Room 1), Back to Basics, The Sub Club and internationally Panorama Bar, Watergate, Robert Johnson , The Rex, Priviledge and The Underground in Ibiza, Love in New York and various clubs in Tokyo to name just a few. Musically his style is focussed around Deep House and Techno with a warm, hypnotic feel. However his sets draw on many styles from Chicago to Detroit to more modern European influences. Most of all though, Giles’ sets are noted for their strong programming, passion integrity and his unwavering ability to uncover hidden gems both new and old. In 2005 Giles was approached to join the reviews team of the internationally renowned magazine DJ, reviewing the “Techno” section, something which he did for 5 years until very recently. His first record was released in 2006 alongside Dan Berkson but its his “Two Armadillos” project with Martin Dawson that has gained the most attention,. Over the last 3 years the duo have made a significant dent in the consciousness of most underground House and Techno DJs with their deep, warm and natural sound appearing on labels such as Dessous ,BangBang!, Sthlm Audio, Buzzin Fly, Motivbank, Four:Twenty and secretsundaze music. They have also completed remixes for Dessous (Dan Berkson and James What ft. Robert Owens) The Discowboys (Steve Bug and Vincenzo) and Mood Music (Kiki) and their releases have been remixed by the likes of Sascha Dive, Tobias and Andomat 3000 and Jan. Giles and his secretsundaze co-resident James Priestley also got together to remix Tobi Neuman and Onur Ozur’s Sensitiva Project. Giles’s tracks have been licensed to compilations such as Arpiars mix for Circo Loco’s 10 Year Anniversary; Steve Bug’s “Bugnology 3”; Mathew Dear’s “Body Language” and Claude Von Stroke’s “At The Controls”. He has also mixed and compiled two critically acclaimed mix CD’s for secretsundaze alongside his co-resident James Priestley. secretsundaze Volume’s 1 and 2 have both been hugely well received by the public and journalists alike. Both showcase Giles’ exemplary selection skills and deft mixing. Refusing to go down the well troden generic ableton route Giles chose to mix Volume 1 live at homewith no software just 2 1210’s and a mixer wanting a raw, natural and 100% real vibe. Mid 2009 Giles was asked to contribute a mix to the hallowed Resident Advisor podcast series which received huge praise from the international community once again eschewing the ableton route for a raw, natural and honest approach. 2010 looks to be another strong year for Giles and indeed Two Armadillos with them recently completing a remix for legendary 90’s label R&S remixing regular Planet E artists Psychotron soon to hit the streets. Giles has also been approched to mix the 11th edition of the next instalment of the AudioFamilies download / podcast series with other artists previously being Damian Lazarus, Jacques Renault and John Tejada. With gigs forthcoming in 2010 in Frankfurt, Berlin, Paris, Lisbon, Zurich, Gothenburg, Munich, Israel to name a few there seems to be no stopping this English gentleman.

K-LONE

Brought up in London on club nights like FWD & System - he went on to set up his own record label Wisdom Teeth with Facta in 2014. They’ve since carved out their own unique corner in the UK electronic music scene working with artists like Salamanda, Jorg Kuning, Tristan Arp, Will Hofbauer, Yushh, AYA, Nick Leon & more. His debut LP ‘Cape Cira’ became the accidental soundtrack of the long strange summer of 2020 - its lush marimbas, hazy atmosphere and synthesised bird calls providing the ideal soundtrack for some much needed collective escapism. The record was widely deemed one of 2020’s standout electronic LPs, gaining glowing reviews in Pitchfork, DJ Mag, Mixmag and Resident Advisor, and ranking highly in end of year lists by Crack Magazine, Bleep.com and beyond. His second full length project, ‘Swells’ released in July 2023 on Wisdom Teeth is a kaleidoscopic and expansive record that looks to deep house, synthpop, leftfield R&B and features guest vocals from Brit-nominated singer Eliza Rose. K-LONE also runs his own two separate imprints, Sweet N Tasty for club focused productions including UKG, Footwork and DJ Tools, and Wych - primarily releasing sounds around the 140bpm mark. His eclectic DJ style blends House records, Techno, UKG, UK Funky, Dubstep, Jungle & Footwork as well as new self-produced originals and club edits. He has toured extensively around the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, North America and Japan as well as playing Glastonbury, Love International, Worldwide Festival and Freerotation. He also runs a monthly show on London’s Rinse FM with label partner Facta and has guested Radio 1, NTS & The Lot.

Lovie

Lovie's musical discovery began in the digital music age: a young lover of local radio and after-school MTV marathons, her early mixes took shape in the form of burned CDs she made for her friends. After relocating from her hometown of Washington, D.C. to New York in 2020, Lovie's unique selection of soulful, spiritual music swiftly ushered her into New York's local music scene. At the taste-making Brooklyn radio station, Lot Radio, she gave birth to her homey platform, summer school radio. For five years Lovie's radio mixes—now being offered as one of the station's few weekly residencies—have thumbed through the intimate corners of her music collection. She saunters through slow-groove disco, dusty '70s funk and groovy '80s jazz at a studied pace that makes it easy to marvel at every timeless chime, trill, and drum beat. She's as tempted by the bedroom pop of Clairo as much as the cosmic funk of Lonnie Liston Smith. Outside the Lot, Lovie presents summer school radio as soothing listening sessions around Brooklyn, providing warm balms for city fatigue with artists like alt-jazz harpist muva of Earth and New Age legend Laraaji. As co-founder of Soul Connection with long-time friend and collaborator, Honey Bun, she imbues the power of friendship and Black femme empowerment into sumptuous house music and '90s R&B spun with the patience and musicality associated with the East Coast house tradition. Connecting the mind, to the body, to the soul, her club sets inspire the warmest, most community-minded dance floors you'll find in the city. Her diligence to the craft, musical curiosity, and deep focus on the listening experience earned her a spot on Mixmag's Top 25 Breakthrough DJs of 2024. She now holds a coveted residency at Brooklyn club public records, and has played at art centers like MoMA, Brooklyn Academy of Music and The Beacon Theater, where she opened for Kamasi Washington. Her work has also brought her to international gigs at Paris's Djoon, London's Spiritland, and more. Whether playing on her stomping grounds or rocking dance floors overseas, Lovie creates honey-sweet dance floor memories you'll want to replay again and again.

Luke Una

Beginning his journey as an original Sheffield house young blood in the mid-1980’s and then later Manchester, Luke has gone on a four decade musical journey. This has seen him travel all over the world with his genre defying alchemic fusion of music which has seen him became a respected and prominent figure in many underground musical scenes. Luke was originally one half of the DJ duo and production team The Unabombers with Justin Crawford. They together detonated The Electric Chair, a cornerstone cult night in the UK club scene. It was here in the mid 1990’s that his sound started to develop and he quickly gained international attention, playing alongside Theo Parrish, Harvey and Moodyman, creating a deep musical journey. Luke and Justin later formed The Elektrons gaining critical acclaim. Luke has made significant contributions to the music community through his involvement in various club nights, record labels, fanzines, radio shows and festivals including Electric Elephant, a Croatian festival which paid homage to a wild eclecticism from Balearic to Brazilian to E Soul, House, Disco and Techno and beyond. Luke is the founder of Manchester’s much loved long standing Homoelectric night and Homobloc festival for 12,000 souls which has been at the forefront of UK’s LGBTQ+ cultural landscape. Luke’s radio show on Giles Peterson’s Worldwide FM born out of the pandemic saw his 6 hour radio shows from spiritual jazz, cosmic, machine soul, to deep bass buggin futurism gain cult status. Luke’s partnership with Mr Bongo went onto create É Soul Cultura, two complications - Volume 1 & 2 which went onto evolve into its own record label. Its first release was Transmission Towers - Transmission One, which Luke is an executive producer. É Soul Cultura has now become an event in its own right detonating in various basements, woods, global festivals, stage takeovers, and recent road block street parties. Luke’s most recent release “Everything Above The Sky” compilation on RE:WARM Records explores late-night, after-hours meditations on sound. Luke himself has also played at renowned festivals and clubs internationally, including We Out Here, Glastonbury, Houghton, Repercussion at The Warehouse Project, Love International, Heideglühen in Berlin, Southport Soul Weekender and sell out shows at Koko and Fabric in London. Today Luke remains, as ever, at the forefront of a young changing scene, pairing the momentous legacy of Manchester’s 80s and 90s scene with the delivery of what today’s club communities need to get down.

Nono Gigsta

Nono gets as much joy dancing to music as she does reflecting on it – either as an academic researcher, DJ, producer, promoter, radio host and zine maker. As gigsta, her DJ-sets range widely. Her show on Cashmere Radio, Fictions, gives you a feel for the breadth of her enthusiasm. Born in Belgium but grown up in France and currently based in Berlin, gigsta has been promoting her own Fictions parties across town. In the Sameheads basement, she regularly invites friends for all-night-long sweaty and bassy b2bs. Her reputation for playful, sometimes obscure sets has been spreading across Europe too, although gigsta’s schedule is organized at train-pace. She is currently not flying out of respect for the environment, embracing instead what she calls “slow gigging.” She regularly shares and reflects on her various practices via her newsletter: https://fictionsandreflections.ghost.io

Palms Trax

For aspiring DJs and producers, or indeed anyone who appreciates a good story, the genesis of Palms Trax couldn’t have read any dreamier. You know the one; curious yet naive son of the English Riviera lands a job at one of London’s leading record stores and discovers the masters of Chicago house and Detroit techno. Later, stumbling around Berlin, his primitive attempts to emulate the sound of his newfound heroes accidentally land him a bona fide dance floor hit. A gradual but steady stream of EPs courtesy of Dutch dance music powerhouse Dekmantel have allowed his productions to blossom in richer, smoother directions. On 2015’s ‘In Gold’ EP, and throughout the following year’s ‘High Point on Low Ground’, halcyon hallmarks of house - euphoric piano lines, bubbling acid and luminescent keys - are shot through with Donaldson’s tough, distinctive percussion. It’s that same connection with Dekmantel that has encouraged Donaldson to quickly, impressively evolve as a DJ of some distinctive taste and talent. A memorable performance at Dekmantel’s flagship Amsterdam festival in 2015 captured open hearts, lost minds and aching feet. Since then, the sound of Palms Trax has been a fixture on their enormous main stage, drifting seamlessly between vintage house, esoteric disco and the various shades of a bubbling UK underground he has helped define. Occasional back-to-back performances with the likes of Hunee, Young Marco, Antal and Midland, all DJs regularly credited for their breadth of musical knowledge and sheer versatility, speak volumes for Donaldson’s DJing nous, which has lead him on an international trail; from South America to Australia, and from Panorama Bar to Concrete, Contact, De School, and Lux. Donaldson has also-amassed a patient, open-minded following with his cult monthly radio show, the decidedly less-than-culinary ‘Cooking with Palms Trax’, broadcast on Berlin Community Radio since 2015. On each show, Donaldson takes a deep, vinyl-led drive into his adopted history, fostering a level of trust and shared curiosity that has allowed him to helm all-night sets under the ‘Cooking with Palms Trax’ moniker. Into 2018, he’ll be holding down residencies in Boston, Glasgow and Bordeaux, as well as inviting like-minded DJs into his metaphorical kitchen, throughout a series of self-curated evenings into early mornings of music.

His production game is just as strong, having carved out his unique and irresistible sound with a deep & soulful aesthetic. Ruby Savage

Since moving from her hometown Amsterdam to London in 2007, Ruby Savage has worked behind the counter at Honest Jon’s Records and managed record label Sounds Signature, where she also created the Wildheart Recordings sister label. Much of Brownswood Recording’s recent success has been down to her stewardship as label manager from 2016-2018, while personal exploits have taken her to the dance floor with her In Flames post-punk disco party and a monthly show on NTS.

Sadar Bahar

Saige Sounds

Her work moves fluidly between deep musical exploration and full-bodied dancefloors, where sound becomes something to sit with, move through and connect to. Drawing from jazz, broken beat, soul and deep, percussive house, Saige’s selections are guided by feeling and rhythm rather than genre alone. There’s a spiritual undercurrent to her sets - warm, expansive and rooted in digging, storytelling and care for the dance. A previous host on Balamii with many appearances on NTS, she has regularly played for the likes of Apron Records, Eglo Records, Secretsundaze, Rinse FM, Wax Poetics, Oroko Radio.

Wookie

Wookie (real name Jason Chue), the renowned producer and remixer is widely regarded as one of the most influential founding fathers of UK Garage. He began his musical career releasing classics such as “Scrappy”, “Down On Me” and “Storm” through his own label ManChu Recordings. After signing to the production collective Soul II Soul, Wookie released his seminal self-titled album. First rising to prominence with his top ten hit “Battle” (S2S recordings) and his remix of Sia’s “Little Man” (Long Lost Brother Records), the sounds Wookie pioneered are now ruling the charts and dominating the airwaves. Having been cited as major influences for many modern producers including Disclosure, Rudimental, Preditah, Conducta and M.O.A.D, Wookie’s sound paved the way for the current breed of uk born electronic bass. After a mini hiatus from the music industry Wookie returned to the scene with his remix of Jessie J’s “Who You Are” and went straight on to remix Bobby Womack, Usher and Rizzle Kicks. Wookie has earned MOBO nominations and the calibre of artists he has remixed speaks for itself. 2013 saw Wookie release his own track “The Hype” ft Eliza Doolittle (ManChu/Strictly Rhythm) and remix, amongst others, Disclosure’s “Voices” (PMR/Island) and Wilkinson’s “Too Close” (Ram/Virgin). In 2014 Wookie released new material with the incredibly soulful track “Higher”, featuring the vocal talents of Atlantic Records’ Zak Abel and the accomplished and skilful sound of Rudimental’s Trumpet player, Mark Crown. 2015 Saw Wookie release “Battle 2.0” the rework of the classic “Battle” featuring the soulful Lain. In 2017 Wookie re-released his debut album, available for the first time digitally along with the classic “Gallium” and 2 brand new tracks “Plutonomy” and “Reach Out” ft Xavier. The return of Wookie has brought forward new talents from Jason, DJ-ing for the first time in his career including regular gigs at London’s Fabric, Berlin’s Berghain, Manchester’s Warehouse Project, Worldwide Festival, Outlook Festival, Boomtown, Latitude Festival, 51st State and has now completed 2 full Australian/NZ tours. It’s fair to say Wookie is firmly in the groove.
