Rushing To Paradise

Rushing To Paradise is a brand-new night from the Stand On the Word DJs. They'll be delving into their vinyl collections to find the best in wonky disco, dancefloor-friendly post-punk and joyous leftfield house and electro. Channelling the music and spirit of parties such as The Loft, Electric Chair and Optimo Espacio, the SOTW folks want to move the focus away from the DJs and back to the dancefloor. As Kerri Chandler said … ‘a basement, a red light, a feelin’.

Expect music from artists such as Arthur Russell, B-52’s, DFA, Gwen Guthrie, DJ Koze, Larry Levan, Lil Louis’, Talking Heads, Thelma Houston and the like.

We’ll be joined for our opening night by DAMO, Director of Recorded Music at Kartel Music Group. He'll be pulling out the best Deep House, Rare Disco, Boogie and Afro-Disco. DAMO has been a permanent fixture at Glastonbury and Block9, ever since The NYC Downlow was founded, including sets at The Meat Rack, The NYC Downlow and Genosys. Damo has played regularly in London including spots such as Joyeux Bordel, Merchants Tavern/Apothecary, HWK in Hackney Wick and at Spiritland.
