About this event

On Sunday 14 June, Ormside x Riddim Chango host a dub-focused evening exploring its sonic dimensions.

Japan's Element, dj / producer and co-owner of the Riddim Chango imprint joins us for a rare dj set after relocating to Kyoto. During his 9-year stint in the UK, he immersed himself in the UK’s soundsystem culture, working as a Reggae buyer at a second-hand record shop and building the label’s back catalogue. Notable releases include collaborations with Jamaican poet Nazamba, a potent exploration of black oppression and the boundary-pushing Andromeda EP with the LA/JA dancehall collective, Duppy Gun.

Brussels-based ojoo’s work sits at the intersection of sound, politics and community, driven by a deep commitment to collective spaces and a signature focus on heavy, physical bass weight.

Support comes from Manchester legend and Ormside family, Jon K. A shape-shifting dj who has cycled through many musical eras, from mid-90s Manchester raves, helping break Equiknoxx into Europe, to building his diverse and longstanding NTS show.

Trilogy Tapes affiliate and Reckless Records don, Toru completes the bill with his eclectic selections and open-minded approach, a sound he has honed since his early days in London record shops in the late 90s.

There will be a BBQ with the outside terrace open from 5pm onwards.

ojoo

ojoo is a brussels-based, moroccan-born musician, selector and organiser whose work hits where sound, politics and community collide, all shaped by mighty physical bass weight. they’re part of psst, an intersectional feminist collective, and co-builder of the pssound system, a fully DIY rig built from the ground up by and for marginalised genders. not a flex, but an act of resistance. plywood, wires, community. raised on bootleg CD culture and shaped by constraint, ojoo found their voice in the pressure zones between dubplate and distortion. no clean lines, no polite transitions. just raw blends, concrete rhythms, sirens, and silence. they’ve played unsound, out.fest, dekmantel, but you’re just as likely to hear them rinsing bass weight at warehouse squat parties or partaking dub EQ workshops off the grid. regular radio on kiosk (brussels) and noods (bristol) lets them build out their world besides the dancefloor. they also curate nights, bringing their vision to venues and festivals; their latest shows in 2025 were at Botanique and Listen Festival, inviting artists to their hometown including Dali de Saint Paul, Grove, DJ Marcelle, Shackleton, Demdike Stare, and more. ojoo doesn’t play music to pay homage, they live it, twist it, and push it to rupture. every set is a terrain of pressure: political, sonic, personal.
