About this event

Plants Can Dance returns for an extra special Sunday event on 28th June - the launch party for the first Plants Can Dance compilation album. The album was curated over the last year by PCD founder Brian d'Souza and features some of the leading practitioners of what perhaps could now be called a new musical genre: plant and mushroom-inspired music.

It includes the likes of Modern Biology, who went viral with his mushroom music videos, OMMA, the founder of Playtronica instruments, Dr Helen Anahita Wilson who makes nature inspired music with a focus on health care, renowned sound artist Jason Singh and Justin Wiggan in collaboration with celebrated Norwegian Jazz musician Arve Henriksen. Accompanying the compilation is a 28-page mini-book exploring many of the themes that this unique music raises, from deep listening to more-than-human-perspectives.

At this launch party, residents Brian and Lamine will be performing music with an array of plants from Lamine's Repot plant shop, we'll have a listening and Q&A of the album (with copies to purchase) and we'll kick off with a biosonification workshop where you can make your own plant-inspired music.

Join us for a unique foray into the magical world of music inspired by the natural world!
