BOYCA
Miro Lopasso, aka Boyca, is a hard-hitting Techno naturalist: as a queer, Swiss-born DJ, producer, and Berlin transplant, Boyca’s convulsing and maximalist productions channel the transformative and liberating dancefloor hypnotism he experienced into relentless Techno totems with industrial undercurrents—strobe-lit, sweat-drenched, and charged with raw physicality. Debuting on Dutch label Mord with the mangled, slow-burning blowout Beneath in 2015, Boyca has since recast his throttling industrial core into a functional, sexy, and floor-driven framework. The result is an enrapturing blend of shuddering low-end and complex groove structures that cycle through frenzied drum machine sequences, crushed loops, and heaving, spaced-out atmospheres. Ass It! (Creaked; 2020), The Encounter from Galactic Outposts (Creaked; 2022), Modified Humans (LPS; 2021), Nediar (LPS; 2021), and Remote Controlled (LPS; 2022)—with heavyweight remixers Charlton, Rosseen, Stanislav Tolkachev, and Rrose—followed in quick succession, sharpening Boyca’s vision of oscillating sound design, pounding groove structures, and infinitely morphing apogees with a dystopian undercurrent. Over time, Boyca has steadily transfigured his thunderous industrialism into a gritty brand of high-energy Techno with hot-blooded joie de vivre, culminating in 2024 with his most uptempo and floor-focused work. A four-track EP on Berlin label …is serving, with remixes by Rexer & Nymed, landed as a relentless, fast-paced concrete séance—built for the floor and designed with a writhing mass of bodies in mind. 2025 marked another leap forward with The Necessary Substance (…is serving; June 2025), the label’s ninth release, where Boyca carved out his own pocket of queer club-space—where distortion meets devotion. Across three uncompromising tracks, Boyca channeled raw intensity and hypnotic seduction: Scream_ unraveled in urgent vocals and tightly coiled percussion; The Necessary Substance simmered with eerie minimal tension and fragmented samples; and Deep Thxxxt_ delivered a direct, bass-heavy weapon built for smoke-filled basements. The subsequent Necessary Substance Remixes (September 2025) expanded the release into new territories, reaffirming Boyca as a distinct voice in contemporary techno—fierce, sensual, and unafraid to push boundaries. With a constant drive to reinvent and push further, Boyca continues to deliver raw and honest dancefloor superlatives anchored in a grinding and granular Hardgroove framework—club music as ritual, release, and transformation.
