Ilian Tape turns 19 this year. The Munich label was founded in 2007 by brothers Dario and Marco Zenker, and what began as a local operation has, over nearly two decades, grown into one of the more quietly authoritative presences in European electronic music. Without relocating, without rebranding, or losing the thread. The sound that put it on the map, deep & rhythmically intricate, UK-tinged Techno with a penchant for the experimental, remains the centre of gravity and was built to last rather than for immediate impact. Around it, the catalogue has expanded: floating drum & bass, hazy half-time, pensive ambient, hip-hop and more recently records drifting toward jazz. Keeping it all together is Ilian Tape’s sensibility: not genre tags. Nineteen years in, Ilian Tape continues to operate from their homebase in Munich.

For their last birthday bash at Blitz, the Zenker Brothers have invited a wide range of guests & collaborators to celebrate and represent the label and its multifaceted sounds. From longtime affiliates such as Stenny or Konrad Wehrmeister, recent friends like Deetron who presents his Soulmate alias alongside (a dancefloor-focused!) live set by Fireground and (an ambient-leaning) live set by MPU101. Rounding out the programme are upcoming talent & an influential figure : the Belgian upstart AliA and UK-paragon Ben Sims who arguably helped shape and baptise a revival with his own imprint called Hardgroove.
