HTRK

HTRK (pronounced ‘Hate Rock’) has undergone many changes since its formation in 2003. In 2009, the group lost Rowland S. Howard, their mentor and producer, and in 2010, Sean Stewart, their bassist and founder, passed away. The remaining duo, consisting of singer Jonnine Standish and guitarist Nigel Yang, gradually evolved, swapping lethargic noise for softer sounds with forays into gothic country, whilst retaining its characteristic poetic gravitas.

Last November saw the release of the successful remix album ‘String of Hearts’, featuring remixes by, amongst others, Sharon Van Etten, Kali Malone and Stephen O’Malley, Liars, Coby Sey, Double Virgo, Loraine James and Perila. New work from the duo is due out this summer, with more information to follow shortly.
