There are few artists, DJs and producers with as impressive and influential a career as the legendary DJ Krush from Japan. He is considered by many to be one of the pioneers of trip-hop and abstract hip-hop – and on October 28th he will finally come to Stockholm.
The legendary DJ from Japan was strongly inspired by the cult film Wild Style in the 80s, which was the starting point for his journey in hip-hop. He started with the groups B-FRESH3 and later KRUSH POSSE – one of Japan’s most groundbreaking hip-hop acts with its unique 1MC/2DJ constellation. When the group disbanded in 1992, he took the full step as a solo artist.
Since then, DJ Krush has created a completely unique musical expression where DJing is at the center. During the mid-90s, he gained international recognition with his debut album KRUSH and the acclaimed Strictly Turntablized, released via the British Mo’ Wax. Over the years, he has collaborated with both underground and world-renowned artists, cementing his role as a key figure in global trip-hop and abstract hip-hop.
With almost 40 years on stage, he has toured the world, playing in more than 60 countries and over 350 cities, and performing at iconic festivals such as Glastonbury, Sónar and Coachella. His latest album Saisei (2024) was met with a strong response from fans worldwide and shows that he is still as relevant as ever.
As far as we know, DJ Krush has never played in Stockholm – or at least not for a very long time. That's why it feels extra special to finally welcome this icon here.
