JWY (1)
Jowy is a DJ and curator with roots in Ghana, India, and Surinam, born in Amsterdam. With over three years of experience behind the decks, Jowy has quickly built a name for herself in the music scene. She has graced the stages of respected festivals such as Project 6, Open Ear, AVA Festival, Croílar, Fuinneamh, Electric Picnic, and All Together Now, and has curated lineups for events like Electric Picnic, All Together Now, and Live Collision Festival. She’s also performed across Ireland, from Limerick to Kildare, Galway, and Cork, and internationally in Glasgow, Berlin, London, and Edinburgh, continually expanding her presence both locally and abroad. As a neurodivergent woman of colour, Jowy is driven by a passion for creating inclusive spaces. This led her to found foxgluv, a collective dedicated to elevating female, non-binary, and trans creatives. She also co-founded AMPM, a collective focused on UKG, bass, and 140, with a strong emphasis on community-building through workshops, gatherings, and events. Through both collectives, Jowy has developed impactful initiatives, such as free DJ workshops for FLINTA individuals in collaboration with Honeypot and production workshops for emerging producers under AMPM, providing a platform for new talent to develop their skills and gain exposure. She has been recognised by DJ Mag as one of the best upcoming artists and featured in The Irish Times and Lovin Dublinas one of the women shaping Ireland’s music scene. Four Four Magazine has described her as “Dublin’s leading light.” Jowy has supported a wide range of artists including Jeff Mills, Jayda G, Conducta, Bakey, Todd Edwards, Amor Satyr, Karen Nyame KG, Yemz, Soul Mass Transit System, Window Kid, Motor City Drum Ensemble (MCDE), and Yung Singh. She regularly curates FLINTA-focused lineups for events, including store openings for Schuh, her foxgluv residencies at Pawnshop and Lucky’s, and the 50 First Skates roller skate disco. She’s also hosted Foxgluv takeovers, such as a St. Patrick’s Day event at the Open Gate Brewery for Guinness. She organised a successful Women’s Aid fundraiser with the Collective Instinct, raising over €700 for charity, and has been involved in multiple charity events, including those raising funds for Palestinian aid. Jowy continues to build momentum, having performed at AVA Belfast, held a residency with the Rathaus Collective. She also co-organised the first WOC art market in Dublin with Women of Colour Belfast — a milestone event highlighting the creative contributions of women of colour across Ireland. She launched free production workshops, closed the Alternating Current Festival for Dublin Digital Radio, returned to Live Collision Festival, and played Foxgluv’s first international event in London. She also performed on standout stages like Rave in the Woods at Electric Picnic and Arcadia at All Together Now, marking major highlights in her journey so far. Outside of her DJ and curatorial work, Jowy has been a panellist for Herset, a platform connecting women in the music industry, and for Dublin Modular, where she discussed the challenges of starting and running a collective.
