About this event
Disco Exota lands at the beautiful Paal69 for a unique one-day beach extravaganza. Paal69 is situated on Zandvoort's South Beach, between the dunes and the North Sea.This secluded piece of paradise has the atmosphere of a tropical island. Locals call this magical place South Beach. This location is equipped for all weather conditions. In good weather, we dance outside; if the weather deteriorates, there are tents.
We are honoured to welcome the following dj’s:
- Tornado Wallace (Australia /Berlin) - Orpheu The Wizard (NL) - Malou (NL) - Charmaine (NL) - Satoshi Yamamura (JP) - G-String (NL) - Funknoir (NL)
Expect an eclectic, hardrocking mix of disco, wave, african vibes, house, techno, acid & trance. We love to see you on the beach for a dance, chat, swim, drink or a bite.
*Tornado Wallace* Tornado Wallace is the main alias of Berlin-based producer and DJ Lewie Day, originally from Melbourne, Australia. Active since the mid-2000s, his work spans house, leftfield pop, ambient, and techno. He has released music on labels including Running Back, Optimo Music, Ghostly International, and !K7 Records. His productions have been played by DJs as varied as DJ Harvey, Andrew Weatherall and Tiësto. Day has also been involved in numerous other projects over the years. He continues to perform internationally and is recognized for his consistent, innovative contributions across a broad spectrum of solo and collaborative work.
*Orpheu The wizard* Orpheu The Wizard has a magic touch at finding records that fall between the gaps in music - oddities, curios, the weird, the wonderful. But that’s just half the trick. It takes a sensitive and selective ear to construct a coherent, accessible narrative from them. So you get DJs who can play for the crowd and “selectors” adept at mining the black gold. In Orpheu, you’ve got someone who can do both. On a festival main stage, he can keep it weird enough for the heads. In a connoisseurs’ setting, he’ll keep the flow. Orpheu als has a monthly residency at NTS Radio and Doka Amsterdam.
*Malou* It’s a style that balances light and dark with a wink to indie dance and a clear love for the dancefloor. With past sets at festivals like Wildeburg, Down the Rabbit Hole, Best Kept Secret, Into the Woods and venues like Lofi, NAR, Shelter, and Paradiso – and plenty more on the horizon – she’s one to watch.
*Charmaine* Charmaine's DJ sets reflect her endless musical curiosity from deep 70s jazz-funk cuts to dubbed-out house or raw Detroit techno, she always lets the music breathe and stories unfold naturally. Each set is a conversation between her, the space and the crowd. She joins the dots between diverse scenes and sounds, always favouring what feels timeless. Her experience varies from places like De School, Doka, North Sea Jazz Festival, Dekmantel Selectors and Gilles Peterson's Worldwide.
*Satoshi Yamamura* Satoshi Yamamura is a record collector who holds a monthly residency at Amsterdam’s RadioTempo Não Pára. In addition, together with PAM, he makes up the music blog Okonkole Y Trompa. They now curate a monthly show on London’s NTS. Satoshi’s collection is a diggers paradise: an oasis of rare releases, unfamiliar artists and dusty grooves nearly lost to the world. It’s impossible to narrow down his taste to genres – it’s whatever is found in the back of the crate, but ever with an attachment to new wave, synth pop, ambient and jazz fusion though, plus dozens of others beside.
*G-String* G String has true passion for raw unpolished electronic music. He is a member of Amsterdam’s collective R-A-G (known for their releases on the mighty M>O>S label), and half of the outer space techno duo Crystal Maze. He also did solo releases on the Echovolt and Pinkman label. As a true veteran in the scene G String is since 2001 a regular supplier for hotmixes on I-F's famous IntergalacticFM.
*Funknoir* Funknoir are the originators of the legendary Disco Exota parties in clubs in Amsterdam & Rotterdam since 2003. These guys provided mixes for the Cybernetic Broadcasting System, the early days of IntergalacticFM. Disco Exota hosted a monthly program on the Red Light Radio station for 8 years. Expect a unique blend of old and new. Hot dancefloor stuff!
