Formella
Formella’s music is drippy, trippy, weighty yet spacious, and heavy on the bass. The London-born, Berlin-based DJ and producer navigates through genres fluidly, often threading dubstep, techno and uk bass. While she has a clear affinity for percussive sounds, she doesn’t conform to genres. Instead, she prefers to push the boundaries of her own taste, as well as her audience’s, experimenting with a range of ideas, eras, and influences to create her unique musical universe. As a member and collaborator of Femme Bass Mafia, Formella is known for her risk-taking, genre-blurring selections. Her sets channel a bold, seductive energy, heard at standout venues like Ankali (Prague) and Thekla (Bristol), La Machine (Paris) as well as at festivals including Outlook (Croatia), Melt (Germany), and events across Belgium, Switzerland, and a tour in India. Formella also hosts her monthly show soundbathing on the Prague-based station Shella focused on the slower, deeper or dubbier side of music and dropped her first single, “dripstep,” on Beatrice M.’s highly acclaimed label, Bait, this year, with more exciting releases on the horizon. Beyond the decks, Formella’s all about community. She runs hands-on workshops for emerging FLINTA producers, fostering collective growth and creative confidence creating space for connection and collaboration. Plus, she’s a key player at OYE Records, where she sells vinyl and manages the newly relaunched label, solidifying her presence in the music scene and advocating for the representation of bass music in Berlin.
