Contagious Concert Series - Partners in Crime IV feat. Andrea Parkins

The fourth edition of the concert series Partners in Crime once again focuses on distinctive female musicians. The trio Contagious is a solid blending of avant-garde experimentation and electronic music. For the concert series, they invite three remarkable female artists with diverse backgrounds. Their music brings together ideas from different musical scenes and artistic practices, including traditional Serbian music, poetry, jazz, sound art. Together, they explore the transformative power of improvisation and collective action.

Andrea Parkins is an electroacoustic musician, composer and sound artist whose work explores connections and slippages between the body, material, sound, site, and space. She is known for her pioneering approach as an improvisor, which uniquely combines her electronically-processed accordion's textures and timbres with layered electronic feedback, Foley'ed object sounds, and live-processing from her custom-built instruments. Parkins' projects including performances, compositions, spatial audio installations; and sound for contemporary dance, experimental film and intermedia performance. Her work has been presented at The Nordic Biennale of Contemporary Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, Experimental Intermedia (NYC), Kunsthalle Basel, and many more.
