Laurent Garnier
Legendary French DJ, producer, and author, a key figure in establishing European techno and house over the last three decades.
Luke Una
Beginning his journey as an original Sheffield house young blood in the mid-1980’s and then later Manchester, Luke has gone on a four decade musical journey. This has seen him travel all over the world with his genre defying alchemic fusion of music which has seen him became a respected and prominent figure in many underground musical scenes. Luke was originally one half of the DJ duo and production team The Unabombers with Justin Crawford. They together detonated The Electric Chair, a cornerstone cult night in the UK club scene. It was here in the mid 1990’s that his sound started to develop and he quickly gained international attention, playing alongside Theo Parrish, Harvey and Moodyman, creating a deep musical journey. Luke and Justin later formed The Elektrons gaining critical acclaim. Luke has made significant contributions to the music community through his involvement in various club nights, record labels, fanzines, radio shows and festivals including Electric Elephant, a Croatian festival which paid homage to a wild eclecticism from Balearic to Brazilian to E Soul, House, Disco and Techno and beyond. Luke is the founder of Manchester’s much loved long standing Homoelectric night and Homobloc festival for 12,000 souls which has been at the forefront of UK’s LGBTQ+ cultural landscape. Luke’s radio show on Giles Peterson’s Worldwide FM born out of the pandemic saw his 6 hour radio shows from spiritual jazz, cosmic, machine soul, to deep bass buggin futurism gain cult status. Luke’s partnership with Mr Bongo went onto create É Soul Cultura, two complications - Volume 1 & 2 which went onto evolve into its own record label. Its first release was Transmission Towers - Transmission One, which Luke is an executive producer. É Soul Cultura has now become an event in its own right detonating in various basements, woods, global festivals, stage takeovers, and recent road block street parties. Luke’s most recent release “Everything Above The Sky” compilation on RE:WARM Records explores late-night, after-hours meditations on sound. Luke himself has also played at renowned festivals and clubs internationally, including We Out Here, Glastonbury, Houghton, Repercussion at The Warehouse Project, Love International, Heideglühen in Berlin, Southport Soul Weekender and sell out shows at Koko and Fabric in London. Today Luke remains, as ever, at the forefront of a young changing scene, pairing the momentous legacy of Manchester’s 80s and 90s scene with the delivery of what today’s club communities need to get down.
Greg Wilson
Pioneering UK DJ credited with being the first British DJ to mix electro-funk with electronic club music.
Ruby Savage
Since moving from her hometown Amsterdam to London in 2007, Ruby Savage has worked behind the counter at Honest Jon’s Records and managed record label Sounds Signature, where she also created the Wildheart Recordings sister label. Much of Brownswood Recording’s recent success has been down to her stewardship as label manager from 2016-2018, while personal exploits have taken her to the dance floor with her In Flames post-punk disco party and a monthly show on NTS.
Sean Johnston
‘I know where she’s coming from, Space is where we both belong’ A.R. Kane From mountain scaler to highly respected purveyor of the finest music money can’t buy, professional beat-raconteur and upstanding member of the disco dance music community, Mr Sean Johnston creates ethereal sonic landscapes both in his productions and behind the decks of any dancefloor. DJ'ing since his formative years in the frozen Northern reaches of Yorkshire Johnston has been many things; Acid-House Veteran, Techno Survivor, Alpinist, Hardway Bros and Freelance Disco Consultant but it is his recent production work and now legendary club night that he has best become known for the world over. From the early 90’s institution that was Sabresonic (also releasing on the label) to Disco Bloodbath, Sean has played at many of London's landmark clubs. He also plays regularly at Berlin's premier underground venue Salon Zur Wilden Renate, festivals in French castles and the Dalmatian coast, as well as across the whole breadth of this fine aural landscape we live in. Moving to London back in 1988, Johnston got to know Jeff Barrett of the highly respected Heavenly Recordings and Mr Andrew Weatherall. “We’ve been in and out of each other’s orbits ever since.” It was in a recent orbit on a drive down to Brighton one night that Johnston & Weatherall discovered they shared a love of the slowed-down rhythms of new beat, disco, kosmische, and weird, slow psychedelic music. From this journey, grew the beginnings of A Love From Outer Space (ALFOS) club night. “There was no masterplan to slow things down, it was just that Andrew and I had been listening to the same type of music and we thought, okay 80 people in a basement, we’ll give it a go and see how it works out.” says Johnston with customary modesty. What ensued has gone on to become one of the most revered clubs of recent times. In an age where residencies don’t exist Johnston and Weatherall flipped this concept on its head. A refuge from the frenetic ‘velocity’ of modern developments, ALFOS is an oasis of slow in an increasingly sped up world - the club's manifesto never knowingly exceeds 122bpm. “The ALFOS sound is the distillation of 25 years of record buying by two music fans. The kind of music that we play is very similar in attitude to the Balearic stuff that Andrew was playing 20 years ago but it’s informed by all the progressive house and techno of the ‘90s, disco, psychedelic music, kraut-rock; kind of a distillation of 25 years of listening to music.” says Sean. You could also throw ambient, balearic, proto-house, dub-sonority, un-disco and other experimental curiosities into the mix but these are mere labels; what’s important is the ethos engendered within it all. This is body music for discerning musical ears, first and foremost. What started life in fabled dingy Stoke Newington basement The Drop has mutated into a worldwide phenomenon and gone on to influence a whole new wave of producers. Such is the night's popularity, the meteoric ascendancy has seen the pair take ALFOS to clubs and festivals throughout Europe. Sean and Andrew now hold down a cult residency at Corsica Studios in London, a Glasgow base at the Berkeley Suite, as well as the yearly, near mythical scenes from the Croatian Balearic festival jewel in the crown; Electric Elephant. Their epic 5 hour set in 2013 was one of the most talked about - and rightly so - sets of the summer. But A Love From Outer Space isn’t an exercise in rose-tinted retrospection or self-applauding egotism. This is a clear stretching of selection which journeys further, towards the peripheries, giving new life to old, leftfield eccentricities and airing the young and recent in proximity, with finely judged style. When asked where they unearth all these obscurities Johnston replies “They’re all out there. It’s just that we’re digging in different places to other people. There are a few obscure things we play, but the majority of any of our sets is made up of music we’ve sourced from outlets open to anyone. It’s not stuff we’ve been sent, downloaded or promoted.” And herein lies the beauty of Johnston’s approach to music. “I’d like to be Adrian Sherwood’s teaboy for a few weeks. He opened the door to Dub for me and made me want to know how records are made.” As one half of revered production outfit, The Hardway Brothers (he now often produces under this moniker solo) and prominent voice in earlier classic-acid project, The Flash Faction, Johnston has also successfully transferred this innate understanding of a dancefloor into studio alchemy. Sean's productions in their own right have, as Hardway Bros has graced Beard Science, Aniligital, History Clock, Astrolab, Luna Flicks, I'm A Cliche, Is It Balearic? and hot New York label, Throne of Blood. He is an in-demand remixer, having reworked artists such as Alien Alien, Max Essa, The Asphodells, Haules Baules, Adonis, TOY, Tal Kein & Anthony Mansfield, Craig Bratley and Ajello. With a plethora of remixes and productions in the pipeline for the likes of Ewan Pearson's Misericord label and S'Express each one shows an increased and profound comprehension of the ever expanding musical landscape..

Tia Cousins
Owning records is easy, playing them, easier. Reading a room, knowing what lands, stitching tracks into something that moves a crowd - that's where the craft separates itself from the collection. The tapestry of becoming a real DJ is an art form few truly master. Step forth, Tia Cousins, London-based selector, radio broadcaster, and self-proclaimed BoG Witch who has made a name for herself by digging through the cracks others overlook. In an era drowning in information, she's carved out a niche collecting the in-between sounds - experimental gear, obscure niches, the old and the new - amassing a collection of music that frankly shouldn't belong to someone her age. It's one that has won her plenty of recognition in all the right circles, from NTS to Balamii, the Tate Gallery to Brilliant Corners. Tia's extensive knowledge threads together EBM, Italo, Techno, Synth-Pop, Post-punk and House, leaving no stone unturned. Learning to DJ in her university bedroom after a friend left their decks behind, she's refined her approach over the years: finding moments of silence to transition, and keeping things simple with minimal effects. These dizzyingly eclectic yet well-sequenced selections have turned heads on radio stations around the world, most recently landing her a monthly residency on Bristol's Noods Radio. Her well-curated radio shows have become a calling card - a space for music she actually wants to listen to at home, rather than the usual ‘club’ fare. Reaching deep into jazz, krautrock, ambient, and the experimental fringes that keep dancefloors guessing, she's also cleared a few floors in her time, "I quite like doing that - filtering out the crowd so that only those who are vibing remain." Tia's also turned her unique ears to A&R, heading up the musical direction for the Ransom Note's record label, as well as co-parenting the ambient and plant cassette label Music To Watch Seeds Grow By. Born from a sober stint spent hyperfixating on gardening and sprouting seeds, the cassette label pairs ambient music with the slow, mindful art of horticulture. The past couple of years have been huge for the young selector, and she can be found performing with the likes of Optimo, Decius, Lena Willikens, Helena Hauff and Vladimir Ivkovic. This year she's debuted at Panorama Bar, Convenanza and Waterworks, toured Asia, alongside regular appearances at Field Maneuvers, Love International, Golden Lion, Bugged Out and Watching Trees - where she's soundtracked silent films, played main stage sets whilst co-curating the The Bush of Ghosts ambient area. When you add in mixes for Erol Alkan's Phantasy, BICEP, the fabric International Women's Day series, as well as being featured on Resident Advisor's mix of the day, it’s safe to say Tia is quietly earning acclaim that even the most seasoned of artists would yearn for.

Seven magazine London "When it comes to entertaining people, few can rival the lovely miss loud. Her frenetic club sets are characterised by her immense personality shining through, she looks stunning, but she's jumping around on stage. Shell spend hours chatting to clubbers, signing whatever is thrust her way and even parties with punters post gig. She's the peoples dj. The girls want to be her the guys want to be with her. Lisa delivers a dark, techy, grinding groove, tailored for long loud nights on packed dancefloors. It's all about cramped, underground clubs, screaming, chanting clubbers and never wanting to go home. It's a soundtrack to the coolest party of your life and everyone's invited. In short it rocks and above all IT'S LOUD! M8 Magazine Scotland where Lisa was there cover star. "Not one of these droll down in the mouth DJ's who have their eyes transfixed on the faders instead of the floor.
