About this event
Cabaret Voltaire is one of the pioneers of the British electronic avant-garde. What began in 1975 as an experimental performance full of tape manipulations, noise, machines, and Dadaist interventions grew into a project that profoundly influenced industrial music, post-punk, and countless electronic movements.
In 2026, Stephen ‘Mal’ Mallinder and Chris Watson will return to the stage to celebrate 50 years of Cabaret Voltaire live, half a century after their debut at the Sheffield Students' Union. Fifty years later, their work still sounds urgent in a world full of social unrest and political noise.
The anniversary shows will cover their entire oeuvre: from early experiments and Rough Trade/Factory releases to Doublevision video art and collaborations with Adrian Sherwood and Marshall Jefferson. Mallinder emphasizes: “The live set is built from scratch but faithful to the original tracks.” Watson adds: “To honor Cabaret Voltaire’s legacy is a unique privilege.” A chance to experience one of the most visual electronic acts anew.
