Acid Arab

Guido Minisky and Hervé Carvalho (+ Sex Schön in the studio), both djs for many years and residents of infamous Parisian club Chez Moune, have fallen in love with this music after a trip to Tunisia with Dj Gilb’R. They’ve managed to convince a lot of producers to come along with them on this fantastic voyage and create a track for their ‘Acid Arab Collections‘, which are naturally released by Gilb’R’s label, Versatile Records. On this first EP you will hear the French dance master I:Cube giving his own definition of an Arabic acid track. Inspired by some old guys talking in an Algerian café, he called it “Le bon vieux temps” (‘Good old days’). The Syrian star Omar Souleyman has accepted to let Crackboy (from Tigersushi and I’m A Cliché) remix one of his famous hits ‘Shift Al Mani‘. It’s acid at its best, empowered by Souleyman’s vocals. Acid Arab organized a live session at Versatile studio with keyboardist / guitarist Turzi (Record Makers), keyboardist / bassist Judah Warsky (Pan European Recordings) and a very special guest : Adnan Mohamed, aged 60, who’s played traditional oud guitar all his life in Kurdistan and France. Dj Gilb’R, the brain behind the muscles, has mixed these sounds to create an epic cosmic symphony that the team called ‘Cosmique Arabe‘ by Boyz In The Oud. Lastly, Acid Arab themselves deliver their ‘Theme‘, a journey through beats and a Persian melody that has already got support from Gilles Peterson, Lovefingers, TLR, Skudge, Tim Sweeney and Radio Nova (Paris). “We are fascinated by eastern music and its codes, such as complex rhythmic structures (binary and ternary superimposing upon each other), which drive dancers to trance just like acid house does. We’d like to take these codes and use analog techno devices (beatboxes, bassline machines) to create something new : an oriental acid music which combines the coldness of techno and the emotional and dramatic power of the East. Our knowledge of the dancefloor is now digested and we have spent night after night digging records and files to know more about arabic music. We don’t want to be standardbearers of mixing whatever, we just want to be of our days. talking about mixing means there’s a split, a binary vision of an occidental vs oriental world – this is has-been. We don’t paste oriental sounds on occidental beats, we want to embody both cultures without pretending to reinvent oriental music or fooling ourselves by believing we’re inventing eastern dance music. We just want to be part of it, and contribute to this brilliant and enormous masterpiece that this music is, and has been for thousands of years.” Acid Arab aka Guido Minisky and Hervé Carvalho.

Âme

Berlin-based duo (Frank Wiedemann & Kristian Beyer) of Innervisions, known for hypnotic, deep house and techno that blurs genre lines.

Trikk

Behind the name lies a humble (foremost) producer and DJ; someone who has made his mark through a careful selection of labels: Innervisions, Lossless and Optimo Music most prominently. Trikk’s reputation is one of an artist who pays acute attention to detail across every avenue - although this has resulted in a smaller production catalogue, it has gained mighty respect from fellow DJs and music lovers - dancefloors and beyond, all over. Such noted respect has been the result of continuously solid output across his releases. The success of ‘Proto Rhyt’ (Lossless, 2016) and his ‘Florista’ EP (Innervisions, 2016) paved way for even more accolades with his first double EP, ‘Mundo Ritual’ (Innervisions, 2017). Here Trikk was, for the first time, able to extensively unleash his no holds barred approach to music: a somewhat unconventional and contemporary mixture of tribal accents, big synths and dramatic flourishes; this combination was an unapologetically fresh and exciting contribution to the scene. This triple-dose of solid output, paid with Trikk’s extended (and now yearly traditional) ‘Mundo Ritual’ mix series, further bolstered his status as a core member of the Innervisions family. Here, he bonded with the label’s co-founder Dixon, resulting in them co-producing a rework of Keope ‘The Canary Inukh’ (Bigamo Musik, 2020). Focusing on today, the release of Trikk’s anticipated album is gently bubbling onto the surface of the musical stratosphere. Much like his multifaceted music, lies a multifaceted identity. Musically, his sound reflects a diverse background inspired by both music and upbringing. Crossing borders from Porto to Berlin via London - paired with his father’s Mozambican heritage - has formed plenty of experience through these different cultures. Throwing into the mix favourite bands being Cabaret Voltaire and Throbbing Gristle, this has driven a multi-coloured identity; Trikk’s stamp on sound is almost hard to defy, and yet, seems all so recognisable across a wide breadth of dancefloors which embrace his presence. Indeed, for those who have embraced his presence on the dancefloor, they are sure to agree that his motto subconsciously resonates with time being an illusion. Trikk is an effortless purveyor of the elongated build-up, bringing melodic vibrancy and intensity into the smallest of moments - often leaving the listener stopping in their tracks, until the peak strikes full force. Tension, and release: helping to capture all those wandering souls and moulding them together as one. Getting his start at LuxFrágil (Lisbon), later playing at Robert Johnson (Offenbach) and at Sónar/OFFSónar (Barcelona), Trikk has been fully educated with plenty of experiences which have shaped him as he stands today. Yet, his mentality that music unites us as one - and helps us to release - is the core mantra which inspires him to always aim to do better than his last endeavour: always delving into the finite detail and concentrating on improving even the smallest aspect. The dedication to his art form lies in how he takes himself out of the context and places his core perspectives on those opposite him. Much like his own private character, Trikk likes to keep his social media presence to a minimum - you’ll see no clickbait or anything sensationalised, keeping in line with his honest aura. Rightly so, this leaves more emphasis on the most important thing - his music, thus bringing a deeper connection to all followers through the virtual world. Whilst logically speaking, complexity and simplicity are two states of motion which don’t stand together, Trikk breaks this barrier - blending boundaries to lands far and wide.

Doudou MD

Born from a Dutch classical singer/pianist player and a Congolese percussionist drummer, it comes as no surprise that the art of playing music literally runs through her veins. Her mostly vinyl sets are 90's UK/US/DE inspired, supported by strong percussion, rhythms and a spiritual touch. Always aiming to engage in a conversation with her crowd, dancing to her sets will release that inner gangster gut feeling in you. Body focused, voluptuous house and techno at its best. Doudou MD strongly believes music has the power to heal and serve as a medicine, which is one of the main reasons music has always been at the core of her life. Following her ears and heart when digging for new records, her bag is constantly being re-filled with a rich variety of music. Although the rhythms and genre of her selection may vary, the constant factor is her unmistakable love for every track she lays on the record player. After spending her early (club)years in Utrecht and Amsterdam, surrounded by her forever cherished Slapfunk and VBX brothers, she spent 5 years in Berlin. Here clubs like Berghain, Hoppetosse and Ohm played a big influence on her musical and personal developments. She takes much of her inspiration from artist like Zip, Roman Flügel, Paul Johnson, as well as Steve O’Sullivan and Mr. G. Back in Amsterdam today, never taking the experience of the dance floor lightly, she fine-tuned her view of the ultimate club experience all over the world. Perfecting this craft is a never ending process, making her upcoming gigs all the more interesting for both crowd and artist.

I Hate Models

Ignez

His roots are in between dust of sand and waves of salt water. Ignez grew up near the coast of The Netherlands where hypnotizing waves and infinitive dunes shaped his sound. He fled the conservative world by sketching his own reality with these elements of nature. This became inextricably linked within his consciousness and reflects back into his music today, bringing a tight yet indefinable techno sound. He has shaped his own path through his imprint, Somov Records, where he unveiled his distinctive sound and artistic vision for the first time. In addition to his own imprint, he has made an indelible impact on influential labels such as Token and SK_eleven, enchanting audiences worldwide with mesmerizing releases. Notably, Ignez has collaborated with Rødhåd. Together, they have created two EPs that showcase their unique musical synergy. Jeff Mills

A founding member of noted Motor City institution Underground Resistance, Mills helped build the artist roster and label ideology (as well as much of its back catalog) with partners "Mad" Mike Banks and Robert "Noise" Hood before moving to New York in 1992 to pursue more vigorously his solo and DJ career (with a resident spot at the legendary Limelight and a recording contract with the noted German label Tresor). (Although rumors of bad blood between the early UR crew have been denied by all involved, Mills' decision to split was apparently total, with Banks all but repudiating his involvement with Mills and Mills distancing himself from the continuing political militancy of Banks and the UR organization.) Mills' UR-related releases (including "The Punisher" and "Seawolf") are stripped-down and erratic, fusing elements of hardcore acid and industrial techno to the sparse Detroit aesthetic. Not surprisingly, his post-UR sound hasn't eased a bit, although UR's penchant for the four-track has been replaced by higher-quality production. Prior to his involvement in UR, Mills was a DJ at Detroit public radio station WDET (he was also studying architecture at the time), spinning everything from Meat Beat Manifesto and Nine Inch Nails to Chicago house and underground Detroit techno. He began producing in the mid-'80s, working with Tony Srock on the project the Final Cut. Mills met Banks through a local garage group Members of the House, who Banks was working with in the late '80s. Mills remixed a track on a Members 12-inch, and his and Banks' shared love for Chicago soul and the harder edge of Detroit techno blossomed into Underground Resistance as a combined business and creative enterprise. The pair, along with Robert Hood, recorded several EPs and singles together, including tracks such as "Waveform," and "Sonic," before Mills defected to New York in 1992 to pursue a residency at the Limelight club and a solo career recording for Tresor and his own label, Axis. Mills' discography includes two full-length volumes of Waveform Transmissions for Tresor, a live album and rarities collection for the British label React, and the first album in a new contract with Sony Japan, as well as a handful of 12-inch EPs on Axis and several collaborations with Robert Hood on his M-Plant label. In 2000, Mills took more memorable action by scoring a new soundtrack for Fritz Lang's 1926 film Metropolis, screened around the world at venues including the Museum of Music in Paris, London's Royal Albert Hall, and the Vienna International Film Festival.

Jen Cardini

French-born Jen Cardini (they/them) has been welcoming people into the discotheque for the last 30 years. Their belief that something more was hidden under the surface of electronic music has put them at the helm of tiny sweaty lesbian bars, flamboyant Ibiza superclubs, and off-the-beaten-path warehouse raves. Through their work as an A&R for the labels Correspondant and DISCH, their remixes and productions helped rephrase the world's understanding of the French dance music scene. They continue playing festivals such as Glastonbury, Primavera Sound, Field Day, Sonar, Butik Festival, Mutek, and more. Cardini is also a regular at some of the best clubs in the world, such as Berghain, Outra Cena, Bassiani, Basement, K41 or Club Raum. They have also been able to perform at iconic art venues like MoMA PS1 and the Centre Pompidou. Jen has also launched their own party series, Nightclubbing, a platform for queer underground artists focused on transmission, and is now the artistic director of the Nightclubbing Festival in Paris, taking place in September 2026.

Julian Anthony

and in recent times has managed to present his infectious energy on a global scale, whether that be in the DJ booth, or his vibrant productions. As he evolves as an essential artist in the scene he has begun to experiment with vibes, dusting off records of old and new, carefully blending refined shades of funk-fuelled house, innovative techno, and raw electro, all with a progressive edge. This irresistible and genre-melding outlook has seen Julian hit the road frequently, touching down at the likes of Berlin hotspot Hoppetosse, the famous DC10 club in Ibiza, and the iconic Fabric in London. Mingling with friends and peers of crews such as Slapfunk, VBX, Half Baked and Sash along the way. Alongside this he has been enjoying some bucket list moments as he tours continents such as Australia and South America, with more in the pipeline in that respect. On home soil he has also played his role at acclaimed venues such as Amsterdam clubs Shelter and Bret and recently at the renowned Wildeburg Festival, amongst several others. Whilst heavily touring, Julian’s playful sound has seen him release on sought after imprints such as Dungeon Meat, Beeyou Records and a debut solo EP on X-Kalay, supported heavily by some of his biggest inspirations. From a release perspective the future looks bright for the Dutch talent as he sets his grips on a slew of releases on some of his favourite labels in the coming months. Blink and you might miss it as Julian Anthony continues his alarming upward trajectory, cementing himself as an integral artist in modern day electronic music.

Max Dean

Mind Against

Their gift for creating emotion through the synths and percussive instruments in their studio translates uniquely onto the dancefloor, where their slick, moving take on techno makes for a special kind of peak in the club. They draw from the psychedelic hooks of 1980s soundtracks and from modern dance music’s emphasis on sound design to create a distinctive and immensely powerful sound. In 2012 they recorded and released their first single ‘Cagliostro’ on breakthrough label Life and Death, following that up by essential collaborations with Tale Of Us and Somne for the same label and compilation appearances on Sven Vath’s Cocoon and Recondite’s label Plangent. Through a string of remixes, Mind Against leant their touch to the work of, amongst others, Art Department, Róisín Murphy and Green Velvet. More recently also for SHDW & Obscure Shape and Hakimonu, inspiring a remix EP of the latter’s “Insular Realms” through a masterstroke club edit. All the while, they have become consumate and globally in-demand DJs, dazzling at many of electronic music’s leading clubs and festivals. Their understanding of each other plays out in the dynamism of their joint DJ sets, where a refined selection and intricate mixing forms a journey like no other. Case in point: their revered Essential Mix from 2016. Mind Against’s discography has grown with standout releases for Tale Of Us’ Afterlife label and Scuba’s Hotflush, including further collaborations with Locked Groove and Aether. In 2018, they will return to the Afterlife label with a new EP and continue enchant the crowds they play for.

Miss Monique

Miss Monique is miss unique. A Ukrainian DJ, producer and label owner who’s a YouTube, clubland and streaming phenomenon, with over 200 million cumulative views and almost 800,000 monthly Spotify listeners. A trailblazing artist in the progress/melodic space with a huge online following hooked on her exquisitely crafted and produced livestreams – the most recent instalment of her filmed MiMo Podcast, number 042, a 70-minute Melodic Techno & House DJ Mix, had one million views within a month. A talent incubator and champion in her own right: this year Siona Records, Miss Monique’s home for other young progressive artists, celebrates its fifth anniversary. Her Siona Records 3rd Anniversary @ Ibiza mix, launched on YT in June 2022, has been viewed almost 19.5 million times. A fast-rising international performing phenom, drawing huge audiences from Argentina (4500 tickets sold for her last show in Rosario), to Canada (her 2022 set at Montreal’s Biosphere Museum for Cercle is also online, with five million views and counting), to Ibiza (multiple annual shows at multiple venues) to the US (she’s just been announced for Coachella 2024), to the UK – she’ll be appearing alongside CamelPhat at this summer’s Junction 2 festival in London, a show trailed by the honour of an upcoming Essential Mix for Pete Tong. "That's an honour, and I'm very nervous, of course!" she admits. "And very excited at the same time." And Miss Monique is a breakthrough recording artist who cut through in 2023. Building on the success of her 2022 remix of Sied van Riel's Rush (the most-sold progressive house track on Beatport that year), last year she remixed Sorry by BLOND:ISH featuring Madonna and Ringo by Lufthaus, Robbie Williams’s dance project with Tim Metcalfe and Flynn Francis. And she released three big singles of her own: Subterranean, The Morning After (with Paul Thomas) and City Boy. Those artist releases came via Adam Beyer’s techno label Drumcode and Armin Van Burren’s more trance-driven Armada. Factor in her proven ability to remix across the electronic spectrum and collaborate with producers and vocalists such as Avira and Luna (both on Subterranean), and it all speaks to another game-changing aspect of Miss Monique’s skillset: her effortless ability to shapeshift between genres and sounds. Little wonder that she recently signed to WME, and is a 2024 priority act for the powerhouse Los Angeles-based agency’s Electronic Division. This, then, is Miss Monique’s kaleidoscopic world. It’s a space where her signature green hair (an accidentally iconic look now much-copied by fans) is far from the only colour in the creative palette of an effervescent, positivity-promoting artist who prioritises good mental and physical health. Those ideas are also at the heart, sonically and metaphorically, of her epically uplifting, powerfully percussive latest track, Veselka. Long teased as the opener in her sets, the instrumental was finally released on Siona Records at the top of ’24. The translation of that Ukrainian word? Rainbow. "Veselka is the last track which was finished in my hometown Kyiv before I had to leave my country due to the war," explains Miss Monique, real name Olesia Arusha. "This track has pure energy, good vibes and is imprinted in my memory like a bright moment of peaceful times. I feel from our listeners they're excited to finally have the copy in their playlists.” It seems highly likely. As Progressive Astronaut noted in their rave review: “Veselka… has resulted [in] hands-in-the-air moments throughout her huge Christmas and New Year shows from Berlin to San Diego”. But beyond the facts, stats and hits, she’s something more. Born in the small town of Kirovograd and raised in Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital where she cut her teeth as a teenage DJ, Lisbon-based Miss Monique is a reluctant artist-in-exile. She's using her music and her performances to spread messages of peace, unity, solidarity and joyful defiance. Two years after she was forced to leave her war-torn country, she’s proud that, wherever she travels in the world, her shows are as much about flags in the air as hands in the air. “This kind of support, it's incredible,” she says appreciatively of the fans, of multiple nationalities, who wave the Ukrainian flag at her gigs. “But at the beginning, it was very hard. You don't know how to control your feelings. I remember when the first time I saw the flag, it was in Israel. I ran away for a few seconds because it was very painful. “Now I'm more controlled in my emotions. But I'm very appreciative of everyone doing this, because that means that people still remember, even after two years. They're still trying to help us. The main thing is that they don't forget, and they show that every time they come.” Miss Monique’s emergence as a global talent came during the pandemic. She was already a big draw at home in Ukraine and in neighbouring countries, her profile hard-earned after a decade playing out and, way ahead of her peers, honing her YouTube artistry. But during the lockdowns her livestreamed sets from her home studio went viral. They were characterised by high production values, with Miss Monique’s natural, unforced decks-appeal radiating good vibes at a time when the world needed them most. Then, as restrictions eased, her profile rocketed as online fans around the world were finally able to see her live – by her estimation, in 2022 she and her close-knit team took some 200 flights to over 100 events. There, again, it’s important for her to be an ambassador not just for her country but for a better way of pursuing both artistry and fan satisfaction. For that reason, “I take care of my body as much as I can,” Miss Monique says. “Because I want to be fresh, young and healthy as long as possible.” And, of course, that clean-living and progressive mental attitude helps with a productivity that is as boundless as it is impressive. In 2024 she’ll be using her new global partnership with talent agency WME to expand the activities of Siona Records in promoting the new artists she and her team have discovered and are supporting. She’ll be touring wherever the music takes her. In the earliest weeks of the year alone those bookings include stops in Italy, Montreal, Andorra, Bali and Amsterdam with, down the line, slots on the Main Stage at Tomorrowland and the Carl Cox stage at Ultra Miami. There’s talk, too, of a fashion collaboration on her own capsule collection, with that signature look having drawn attention from various brands. And, after Veselka, she’ll be releasing multiple new tracks. “I’m always testing my new music in the clubs, because it's very important to me to first of all see how it's working, then I do some more edits. Only then do I release the music.” Somehow, amidst her performing schedule, she vows to “work harder on the production side of my own music. More collaborations with singers, some bigger artists…” Miss Monique, then, is excited for the year and opportunities ahead. It’s a role that’s fired by feelings that, compared to most of her peers are, inarguably, more meaningful, more important and more powerful. “If I have a party in two hours, but I’m reading in the news that Kyiv was just bombed again, I can sit and cry. But at the same time, I know that I have to turn off my feelings, and still bring the people happiness. Because I always try to make people happy.”

While working at OYE Records, she began her life as a DJ between a tireless party scene by night and days immersed in music. In the years since, those same instincts have taken Paramida to far-out places. Her singular thirst for often obscure, always incredible music has lead her to residencies at two of the world's most renowned nightclubs. Already a regular fixture in the booth at Offenbach’s rightfully coveted Robert Johnson, she started her residency at Berghain’s Panorama Bar in 2020. Having impressed on many occasions, whether conducting winningly trippy afternoon excursions through to a number of unpredictable closing sets, extending well beyond sunrise, dancers always share the energy of Paramida’s singular obsession. Outside of dancefloor expectations, Paramida’s recent discoveries and closely-held gems make up the soundtrack of her monthly show on Rinse FM. Paramida’s taste is also the guiding spirit at the heart of Love On The Rocks, the label she founded in 2014. Its catalogue is defined by irresistible, offbeat club anthems and unexpected 12"s adapted from the dustiest corners of outsider dance culture, bringing together elements from nu-disco, trance, acid, deep and progressive house, breaks and ambient music across continents. Many of the unlikely and treasured connections that form the backbone of Love On The Rocks have been established as Paramida has travelled the world, performing at clubs and festivals across Europe as well as Asia, Australia, Central and South America. Devoted to the euphoric potential of nightlife, Paramida is one of dance music’s true characters; a passionate proponent of music, a devoted resident and quite simply, a DJ always worth hearing.
