Winchester’s industrial soundscaping suggests mainframes on the fritz and nuclear cores in meltdown, dystopian sci-fi fantasies playing out on a galactic scale.” Pitchfork
Adam Winchester is an electronic musician and live performer whose work applies dub mixing techniques to experimental electronic music. His live sets centre on the mixer as an instrument, using delay, echo, and spatial processing to reshape bass driven rhythms, found sounds, modular synthesis, bespoke instruments, feedback systems, and heavily manipulated samples in real time.
With roots in Bristol’s dubstep scene as Wedge, and a long-running practice operating between bass music and exploratory sound design, Winchester has developed a distinctive approach that prioritises space, repetition, and gradual transformation fused with tropes of Dub, IDM and the hardcore continuum. He has released on revered labels Osiris Music, Soil, and Mindwaves, with a forthcoming LP on Oval Harmonique set to drop on vinyl later this year.
Alongside solo work, his collaborative projects include Wrecked Lightship and Dot Product, with acclaimed releases on Midnight Shift, and Peak Oil, spanning experimental performance, club contexts, and installation work. His music also involves collaborations with Renate Knaup of Amon Düül II, the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, and Japanese Noise artist KK Nüll, alongside performances at festivals including Berlin Atonal, Krake, and Boiler Room.
